Tier 3 - Specialist

Our therapists provide specialist intervention for those children with complex needs whose identified speech, language and communication needs, or their occupational performance needs have not been improved with class-based support. The integrated specialist intervention will then be carried out alongside school carryover support and may include:

  • Therapists and teaching staff work closely together with children and their families to set goals, provide intervention and support and to review progress.  Therapy goals are jointly set and incorporated into classroom activities.
  • Specialist assessment and interventions.
  • Tailored advice to support and monitor a child's progress with a specific speech, language and communication difficulty and/or occupational performance needs.
  • Modelling of the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
  • Individualised IEP targets for Communication, Sensory and Physical, SEMH, Independence
  • Individual programmes for class implementation
  • Prescription of specialist equipment
  • Collaboration with Annual Review reports and multidisciplinary meetings
