Qualifications & Accreditations

ASDAN

ASDAN is an awarding organisation providing flexible and engaging programmes and qualifications that help young people develop skills for learning, work and life. ASDAN qualifications are externally assessed through a portfolio of evidence.

Our students work towards ASDAN qualifications in either Personal Progress, Personal Social Development and/or Employability from Year 10 until they leave.

Personal Progress - spans a wide range of achievement from the ability to encounter experiences to the ability to apply basic skills, knowledge and understanding to a range of familiar experiences. Personal Progress is offered at Entry Level 1.

Personal and Social Development (PSD) - embraces personal, social, health, citizenship and ICT, and enables candidates to develop skills that prepare them for independence and working life. PSD is offered at Entry Level 1, Entry Level 2, Entry Level 3, Level 1 and Level 2.

You can view all PSD units here

Employability - is intended for young people and adults who are not yet ready for employment but for whom a job is a realistic aim within a reasonable timescale. Employability is offered at Entry Level 2, Entry Level 3, Level 1 and Level 2.

Pearson Functional Skills

Pearson is an awarding organisation providing Functional Skills qualifications in Mathematics, English and ICT at Entry Level 1, Entry Level 2, Entry Level 3, Level 1 and Level 2. They are comprehensive qualifications that equip leaners with the practical skills needed to live, learn and work successfully.

The qualifications are examination-based and assess students’ underpinning subject knowledge and their ability to apply this knowledge to different contexts.

Students move onto Pearson Functional Skills once they have completed the relevant Parkwood Hall (PWH) curriculum(s) and are able to sit the examinations from Year 10 onwards. There are a number of access arrangements we can put in place to support students, and they also have the opportunity to re-sit examination(s) if required.

AQA Unit Award Scheme

AQA's Unit Award Scheme is a unique recording of achievement scheme, rather than a formal qualification, which recognises learner's achievements with a certificate each time a short unit of learning is successfully completed. All students are enrolled with Unit Award Scheme on their admission to Parkwood Hall and will complete a minimum of two units per half-term.

Post-16 students, who are not working towards Pearson Functional Skills qualifications, complete relevant and appropriate units from the Unit Award Scheme in English and Maths throughout their time in their sixth form.

You can view the wide range of units on offer here. As a school, we also have the option of creating our own bespoke units.
