Careers & Work-Related Learning

The implementation of our careers programme will be achieved through a team approach, according to the activity and Pathway. All staff have a responsibility to include careers education within their teaching, linking activities to ‘work’ related contexts, working towards raising the aspirations of students.

Delivery will be via Talentino, Careers at Every Level programme, workshops, ASDAN curriculum units, Work Experience Placements, whole class discussions, the PSHE programme, and external and internal events such as the ‘Transition’ Events. Where possible, learning will be assessed and accredited e.g. with AQA Unit awards and ASDAN unit.

Our careers programme will be reviewed on a regular basis, using the Gatsby Benchmarks via the Careers Company Compass Tool.

Parkwood Hall follows the recommendations outlined in the Gatsby Benchmarks. We strive to achieve these fully and use the SEND toolkit to ensure provision for our young people aligns with the high standards of personal provision outlined in our curriculum.

Baker-Clause Statement

This statement sets out Parkwood Hall Co-Operative Academy arrangements for managing the access of providers to student at the Academy for the purposes of giving them information about the provider’s education or training offer.This complies with the legal obligations under Section 42B of the Education act 1997 (the ‘Baker Clause’).

Student Entitlement:

  • All students from the age of 11 years old should access Careers Education.
  • All students should be able to access impartial careers advice​

Student Offer and Opportunities for Access:

We have a range of flexible programmes to ensure our students and parents have access to a full careers programme of information through workshops, ASDAN curriculum units, Work Experience Placements, whole class discussions, the PSHE programme, and external and internal events such as the ‘Transition’ Evenings.

Destination Information

Our students secure Post-19 provision from a variety of providers. Courses students are currently studying range from qualifications in catering, performing arts, vocational tasters, pathways to employment and training.
